Bunch’s Woodworks collaborates with interior designers, architects, home builders, and homeowners to bring custom furniture concepts from drawings and inspiration to finished product. We are skilled working from sketches, CAD drawings, inspirational photos, and rough concepts. At Bunch’s Woodworks, we believe the process should be just as rewarding as the finished piece. Our goal is to make every client feel informed, involved, and confident from the first conversation to the final delivery.
Step 1: Initial Conversation
The process begins with a spark of an idea. Whether you have detailed plans, a few inspiration photos, or simply an idea for a piece you cannot find anywhere else, Bunch’s Woodworks is here to help. At this stage the goal is to flesh out the concept and inspiration of the piece, and learn about the design style and specific requirements. Clients are encouraged to share inspiration photos, sketches, dimensions, or any other references that help communicate their ideas. After this conversation, we will review the criteria and put together a working sketch.
Step 2: Design & Collaboration
The next step in the process is to begin narrowing down specific key elements such as dimensions, wood species, and any other important details. We will continue to ask questions, provide reference materials, and refine our sketches. At this stage we are also carefully planning the joinery methods and the proper order of operations for the build.
As the design evolves, we will stay in regular contact to discuss refinements, review details, and ensure the final plan reflects exactly what you envision. This is a collaborative process, and your input is welcomed every step of the way.
Step 3: Proposal & Approval
Once the design, dimensions, materials, and construction details have been finalized, you will receive a detailed project proposal outlining the scope of work and total cost. Because every piece is custom made, timelines and deposit requirements vary based on the complexity of the project and current shop schedule.
Step 4: The Build Begins
After approval of the proposal and receipt of the required deposit, materials will be ordered and construction will begin promptly. Your furniture will be built with careful attention to detail, premium materials, and traditional woodworking techniques designed to create a piece that is both beautiful and built to last. This stage consists of milling rough material to final dimensions, joinery, assembly, sanding, and finishing. Status updates and pictures are routinely provided to ensure the clients stay up to date on the progression of the build.
After the chosen finish has been carefully applied and cured, the final step in this stage is a careful examination of the entire piece to ensure quality standards are met.
Step 5: Delivery and Installation
As we near the completion of your project we will begin scheduling a delivery and installation date. We offer professional delivery and installation services to the greater Charleston region.
